Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Amo Angelus, a 22 year old
from Sheffield. And this is my stitching website, Ido hope that you
like it. Here you will find everything from my own personal designs to
my projects, past, present and future. It's all here.
Now I know
a lot of people think that cross stitch is a hobby for the elderly, and
I must admit that I thought like that myself at first, but it's really
not. I have learned a lot since I first picked up my needle and while I
know that the elder generations do stitch, so do a lot of younger
people. I have been an Avid Stitcher since I was 20, and I am quite
proud of that!
So it may strike you as amusing that I came upon
this delightful hobby purely by chance. A rather amusing chance in
hindsight, but at the time the circumstances that caused me to begin
were quite stressful and worrying. Let me tell you about it.
It all began a few years ago, while I was still at college.
Wednesdays
were my favourite day of the week, classes were all finished by noon
and I'd grab a bite to eat and make my way over to my grammas house
where I'd pretend I'd not eaten and get something else to eat. I'd stay
there and chat and watch tv for hours on end and pretty soon it became
a regular thing. It was on one of these Wednesdays when my gramma
handed me a copy of "Quick and Easy" which contained, in the back, a
section titles "Stitch a Star" and held none other than the heartthrob
David Boreanez. My gramma was always crafting and she'd introduced me
to many crafts over the years, but Cross stitch was one she had failed
to entice me with, regardless she let me take the mag, some aida and
some of the threads home with me, promising to collect all that I would
need. These promptly went in a drawer for some years.
It was in
December 2006 when I next came across cross stitch. I had just moved
into my second flat of the year and unlike the last, this one was
unfurnished so all my furnature came with me. Then my flat began to get
wet...there was a leak somewhere and my flat being on the basement
level flooded. So one night I was up late, unable to sleep and I came
across this magazine my gramma had given me and fell in love with one
of the designs, not the stitch a star, but some adorable snow bunnies
which I wanted to stitch on my pillows. Of course first I had to learn
to stitch. So I went and bought a new magazine with a small kit on the
front. I thought that would be easy to stitch, it was only small
afterall. This made it ideal as I knew I would be living out of a
suitcase for an indeffinate period of time.
...The kit was for Lickle Ted.
For those of you who have no idea who that adorable little bear is, there were two different shades of white, five different shades of cream and four different shades of tan, all of which looked perfectly identical to me. And to make matters worse, I worked in rows rather than blocks of colour like I do now. Thankfully though, I found a forum that helped me learn and even though I've yet to do those bunnies, I now have a veritable stash going, design my own charts, run a stitching club and am thoroughly addicted.
My blog is run through a blogging site and not this one. If you click it, it will open in a new window. As of yet, I haven't worked out how to get my blog to send you back here.
My stitching store takes you to an external link which will open in a new window with no link back to this page. This is my online stitching store and I would appreciate it very much if you took a looksee. I am happy to order in new products for you, simply contact me.
